Greece wins INSP trophy at Homeless World Cup

Greece has won the INSP trophy at this year's Homeless World Cup with a 6-2 victory over Switzerland.

The final of this year's competition took place at a temporary stadium in Amsterdam's Museumplein (Museum Square), in the Netherlands.

“I still can’t believe it, it doesn’t seem real,” Greek captain Nikolaos Petropoulos said after the match, according to the website of the International Network of Street Papers (INSP) which sponsored the event.

“I’m so happy for myself and the whole team. This is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling,” Petropoulos was quoted as saying.

It was only the second time that Greece, coached by editor of Shedia street paper Chris Alefantis, took part in the event.

Meanwhile, Mexico won both the Women’s and the Men’s Homeless World Cup trophies this year. This year's event, which was first held in 2003, brought together 500 players from 48 countries.
