No change to property tax, despite gov’t promises

Property owners will pay the same amount of Single Property Tax (ENFIA) in 2015 as they did last year after all.

However, it will be paid in five and not six monthly installments, as was the case in 2014, with the first due at the end of October.

The notices for the 6.1 million owners will be uploaded on the Internet in 10 days’ time.

Although the government had promised an adjustment of the extremely high property values used for tax purposes (the so-called ‘objective values’), as the Council of State had dictated, taxpayers will eventually pay exactly the same amount, to boost state coffers by 2.65 billion euros.

The final tranche is due by the end of February.
