Acclaimed choreographer Maria Kynigou-Flamboura dies

Choreographer and dance teacher Maria Kynigou-Flamboura died on Wednesday night.

Kynigou-Flamboura was best known for working closely with the famed late theater director Karolos Koun.

The pair were united in 1965 after Koun founded the Theatro Technis (Art Theater) and its drama school, where she taught for more than 30 years.

Kynigou-Flamboura was the choreographer for a number of productions of ancient Greek plays that were performed by Koun’s theater group around the world
