Mother, son killed on the road
A 36-year-old woman of Russian origin and her 17-year-old son were killed instantly early Monday morning when the scooter that the young man had been driving, with his mother as a passenger, veered off a country road in the Cretan prefecture of Iraklio and struck a tree, police on the island said.
The exact circumstances of the incident remained unclear.
