High court rules on solidarity tax

The Council of State on Monday ruled that while a solidarity levy imposed on Greek taxpayers’ income in 2011 was in line with the country’s Constitution, the way in which the special tax was calculated was not.

According to Kathimerini sources, judges at Greece’s highest administrative court pointed out that if the imposition of the special tax continues this could lead to new appeals, in which case it would have to rule on the levy’s overall legal standing.
