Trial of former SDOE chief for breach of faith begins
The trial of a former head of the Financial Crime Squad (SDOE), Yiannis Diotis, on charges of breach of faith in connection with his handling of the Lagarde list, started Monday and was adjourned until October 29.
Diotis, who is accused of failing to make use of the list to raise much-needed tax revenue, had claimed, in testimony before a special court that tried former Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou last year, that the latter did not give him a memory stick containing the 2,062 depositors’ names before leaving the ministry.
Papaconstantinou, for his part, avoided prison last year after the court reduced the criminal charge of doctoring a document to a misdemeanor.
