Heavy rainfall causes problems in capital

Streets were flooded in several parts of the Greek capital on Thursday morning visibility was restricted dues to heavy rainfall, with the fire service having to rescue two people trapped during a flash flood in a car in Elefsina, west of Athens.

The problems were particularly acute in areas like Menidi and Penteli, though calls were also made requesting assistance in downtown Kallithea.

Downpours all over the country, which are forecast to continue through Friday, also caused flooding in the Peloponnesian prefecture of Ilia
