Changes afoot at helm of Greek Ombudsman
Calliope Spanou, who succeeded current Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis as Ombudsman, has stepped down from her role.
Spanou’s term came to an end after a change to the regulations governing the watchdog position was included in the recent legislation for the issuing of new TV licenses.
Deputy Ombudsman Vassilis Karydis will fulfill the role until a new head is elected. Spanou, a University of Athens professor, had served as Ombudsman since May 2011.
