Five injured in clashes between Croat, Serb soccer hooligans at Athens airport

Five people were injured on Thursday in clashes between suspected Croatian and Serb hooligans outside Athens International Airport, police said.

The Serbs, allegedly supporters of Red Star Belgrade, clashed with the Croats, fans of Dinamo Zagreb, on the day after a Champions League game between the Croatian team and Greece’s Olympiakos.

While Dinamo was not given tickets to the game due to security concerns, dozens of its supporters traveled to Greece on their own. Olympiakos won the game 2-1.

Earlier in the week, 45 Croatians and four Serbs were held in custody in Athens over charges of weapons and drugs possession.
