Ambulance staff to strike on Tuesday
Employees of the ambulance service (EKAB) are to stage a three-hour walkout between 9 a.m. and noon next Tuesday to protest EKAB’s dwindling and substandard fleet of vehicles.
EKAB workers announced the walkout on Wednesday, calling for a meeting with the leadership of the Health Ministry. Their chief concerns are the ever-shrinking ambulance fleet due to repairs that EKAB cannot afford, a serious lack of spare parts and delays to a tender for the purchase of new ambulances with European Union structural funding.
