Head of Financial Crimes Squad said to be resigning

The head of Greece’s Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) Panayiotis Danis has tendered his resignation, according to sources.

Danis is thought to have announced his intention to step down on Friday.

His move comes after he voiced his disagreement with Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos’s decision to hand responsibility for investigating tax evasion cases to the General Secretariat of Public Revenues, which will also receive 500 staff from SDOE.
