Dozens of public hospital directors to be replaced

The Health Ministry informed almost 60 public hospital directors and deputy directors on Monday that they will not be continuing in their positions following an evaluation process.

A total of 59 people were informed that they would be replaced, while another nine were told that the resignations they submitted in the summer would be accepted.

A total of 71 hospital executives have been assessed so far, which means that only 12 will continue in their positions.

By the end of the review process, which entails a report compiled by health inspectors and an interview carried out by a five-member committee, some 160 hospital will have been assessed. Some of those who have been dismissed complained about the process, especially that the interviews only lasted a few minutes, but the government insists it has been “open and transparent” and in line with established practice.
