Regional authorities staff to strike Friday

Regional authorities employees were expected to walk off the job on Friday, following a call from their union to take part in a 24-hour strike.

The strike was being organized in protest at a government decision that was expected to see staff salaries be paid by regional authorities as of 2016, as opposed to these being part of the state budget.

A rally was expected to take place in the afternoon on Klathmonos Square in central Athens, ahead of a meeting between a workers' delegation and Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction Panayiotis Kouroublis.
