Greek police nab smuggler with 123 refugees in truck
A 31-year-old Greek man was to face a prosecutor in Alexandroupoli on Tuesday after a police search of the truck he was driving close to the border crossing of Soufli revealed 123 refugees.
Of the would-be migrants, 102 are Syrian nationals and 21 Iraqis.
Apart from people smuggling, the suspect is also to face charges of forgery as the registration plates on his truck were fake, as was the driving license he showed to border guards.
