First session of gains for Greek bourse in 2016
After five southbound sessions, with total losses of 7.87 percent, the benchmark of the Greek stock market posted its first day of growth this year on Tuesday, closing on the day’s high.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 594.26 points, adding 2.16 percent to Monday’s 581.68 points.
The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 2.58 percent to 169.99 points.
With the stock of Piraeus Port temporarily suspended from trading due to developments concerning its sell-off, Piraeus Bank was the top performer among blue chips with gains of 6 percent.
Aegean Air lost 0.57 percent. In total 58 stocks went up, 38 declined and 16 stayed put.
Turnover came to 72.8 million euros, up from Monday’s 48.7 million.
