FYROM releases photojournalists, NGO workers

Authorities in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on Tuesday released from custody 12 Greek photojournalists and NGO workers who had followed a group of hundreds of migrants and refugees on a crossing of Greece’s border with its northern neighbor on Monday.

Hundreds of migrants abandoned a makeshift camp at the official Greek-FYROM border crossing on Monday to a location that was not being closely guarded at the time, with as many as an estimated 2,000 making it across.

A dozen Greek photojournalists and aid workers following them on their journey were arrested at the FYROM side of the border after being stopped by military guards, one photojournalist said on Monday.
