Kammenos reiterates demand for Mouzalas to resign in meeting with Tsipras

Defense Minister and Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos on Wednesday reiterated his demand for Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas to resign in a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Kammenos made his demand after Mouzalas referred to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), simply as "Macedonia" in an interview with Skai TV late Tuesday.

“Independent Greeks support the government, not Mouzalas,” Kammenos told reporters gathered outside the Maximos Mansion on Wednesday.

While Mouzalas apologized for his “gaffe”, Kammenos said that an apology would not suffice.

Meanwhile, Mouzalas was on Wednesday reportedly taking part in a ministerial meeting in Brussels ahead of a EU Summit on the refugee crisis scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, government spokesman Olga Gerovasili said a decision on the matter would be made after the Brussels EU Summit.

Greece has been in dispute with FYROM over its name since the 1990s.
