Man arrested for turning cafe into gambling den
A 65-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for having converted his cafe in Kallithea, south of central Athens, into an illegal casino.
Authorities said the cafe, which did not have an operating license, doubled up as a casino and was fully equipped with a secure side door entrance that was remotely opened by an employee inside, while closed-circuit TV cameras were installed on the outside.
Police confiscated 57 computers, three servers, a roulette wheel connected to six touch screens, a television, recording devices and six CCTV cameras.
The search also yielded two plastic bags containing a kilo of cannabis and 889 euros.
