Citizens’ protection minister says no terrorist cells, suspicious activity detected in Greece

Greek authorities have not detected any terrorist cells or other activity that points to a possible attack in Greece in the wake of this week’s deadly raids in Brussels, Citizens’ Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said Wednesday.

“There is no reason to worry in Greece,” he told Skai TV a day after suicide bombers killed at least 31 people and injured dozens in the Belgian capital.

“Our country is not a target for historic reasons. It is clear to everyone that we had no colonial history or imperialistic tendencies throughout the course of our history,” he said.

“However, we have to be aware as a lot of people are passing through our country. This is why we cooperate with European agencies.”

Several of the attackers involved in the Paris terrorist raids last November passed through Greece.
