Panel seeks new hospital directors

TAGS: Health

An evaluation committee has begun interviewing candidates who have applied to become directors at public hospitals after the government removed dozens of managers from these posts last year.

Kathimerini understands that the panel began its work on Thursday and will meet twice a week to assess the skills of around 30 candidates each time. A total of some 700 candidates have qualified for this stage of the process. The government has advertised for 75 hospital directors and 71 deputy directors.

The interview will only count for a small fraction of each candidates’ final assessment. The committee aims to appoint new directors to the state hospitals in the eastern Aegean first. However, there is a shortage of applicants for the regional posts as most have expressed an interest in working in the country’s main cities.
