New Democracy raps Tsipras over wealth forms

The prime minister’s office Tuesday denied a report that Alexis Tsipras had failed to declare his departure from a construction company when he became SYRIZA leader and did not record the income he earned from selling his share in his annual derivation of wealth, or “pothen esches,” form.

Ta Nea newspaper alleged that before taking over as SYRIZA leader in 2007, Tsipras was involved in a construction company with current State Minister Nikos Pappas. It also published his pothen esches forms for 2010 and 2011 to back up its claim that Tsipras did not declare the sale of his share after he left the firm.

Tsipras’s office did not make public any pothen esches forms but referred to a September 2010 report in Ta Nea on the annual publication of the wealth data by Parliament. The report noted that Tsipras had previously been a shareholder in the firm but then left the company.

New Democracy insisted that the prime minister should make public all the relevant documents.
