Police, motorcyle thieves exchange gunfire in central Athens
Police engaged in a shootout with three men attempting to steal a motorcycle in Exarchia early on Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred after officers patrolling the area in a police car saw the men as they were pushing a stolen motorcycle into the back of a car.
A car chase ensued before the perpetrators opened fire on the tailing police who, reportedly, fired back.
The unidentified suspects made their getaway after ramming their vehicle into the police car and were last seen entering a Roma camp in Ano Liosia.
