Samaras to sue Gerovasili and media for slander
Former prime minister Antonis Samaras plans to file a lawsuit against government spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili, two newspapers and a current affairs TV program for implicating a family member in the so-called Lagarde List of some 2,000 potential tax dodgers with undeclared accounts at HSBC’s Geneva branch.
Samaras is taking action against Gerovasili for reproducing stories published by newspapers Dimokratia and Parapolitika and TV program “Kouti tis Pandoras” involving a family member, “even though they knew they were slanderous and false,” his associates said in statement, adding that the former conservative leader is being targeted and slandered in an organized plot hatched by the government and certain media outlets.
The publications claimed the Samaras government never investigated the Lagarde List because it implicated the father-in-law of his brother, Alexandros Samaras.
