Patra police seize 145 kilograms of cannabis from refrigerated truck
Coast guard officers at the port of Patra Tuesday announced the seizure of 145 kilograms of cannabis from a refrigerated truck that arrived at the western port on Sunday aboard a ferry from Ancona, Italy.
The officers arrested the 51-year-old driver of the truck following a search on the vehicle that also turned up five cell phones and 2,200 euros in cash.
The 51-year-old was then escorted to the drop-off point in Piraeus by coast guard officers, where a 33-year-old foreign national believed to be the intended recipient of the illicit cargo was also arrested.
A background search on the 33-year-old revealed that he is wanted by Interpol.
