Commission acknowledges there is a confidence issue in talks

European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen said on Monday in Athens that Greece’s commitment to the bailout program is very important, stressing that there is a confidence issue between the government and its creditors that is of vital significance and must be resolved.

The Finnish official admitted that the fiscal measures and the reforms are difficult and unpopular in the short term, but stressed that their value is in the long term.

"There are some investment opportunities in Greece, but the main point is the funding"’ he added in his speech at the European Commission’s representation offices in Athens.
