Rise in ferry passenger traffic for Easter break

The number of people leaving Athens by ferry for the Orthodox Easter break is slightly up on last year, according to authorities.

There was a rise of around 5 percent in the number of passengers travelling from the ports of Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina on Thursday.

In total, some 32,000 passengers, with more than 4,000 cars and motorcycles, travelled on Thursday. This Easter break is longer than usual as the May Day holiday has been moved to Tuesday, making for an extended long weekend.
