Rail services to be disrupted on Sunday due to stoppage

There will be no services on the national railway network between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Sunday as employees of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) hold a three-hour work stoppage to mark Labor Day celebrations which are traditionally held on May 1 but are this year being observed by OSE workers a week later as Orthodox Easter Sunday fell on May 1.

Workers are walking out to protest the government’s plans for pension reform in line with the demands of international creditors.

OSE staff are expected to join other public sector workers at a rally organized by the civil servants’ union, ADEDY, starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Klafthmonos Square in central Athens.
