Repeated arson attacks force Athens bus diversion

Buses and trolley buses will divert around the National Technical University, or Polytechnic, in central Athens on Friday and Saturday nights due to a series of arson attacks on the vehicles in this specific area.

The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) said buses and trolley buses will not drive through the area after 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The vehicles will not pass in front of the Polytechnic on Patission Street, using side roads instead.

OASA said that the diversion may also apply on other days and times if needed but that it hopes the measure will be temporary. The transport body said it is waiting for more instructions from the police before taking its next decision.
