Survey shows 8 in 10 Greeks feel measures were off target
Eight in 10 Greeks believe the government’s policies are taking the country in the wrong direction, with seven in 10 saying their personal financial situation is degenerating as a result of recent reforms.
In a survey conducted by the University of Macedonia for Skai and Kathimerini, only 7.5 percent of respondents thought that the decisions taken at last month’s Eurogroup summit were positive for Greece.
Only one in 10 of those questioned approved of a new privatization fund, with more than half (53 percent) saying they believed it represented a firesale of state assets.
More than half (57 percent) of respondents also opined that the new austerity measures adopted by the government would affect those on medium and low incomes, with only 2.5 percent saying they believed the reforms targeted rich and privileged Greeks, in line with the government’s pre-election pledges.
