Military men among suspects in drug ring
Three low-ranked members of Greece’s military were among 32 Greeks, aged 22 to 57, who were arrested in connection with an alleged drug smuggling ring on Friday and Saturday.
The arrests were made in a large-scale police operation in Alexandroupoli, Orestiada, Thessaloniki, Veria, Edessa, Skydra, Myconos and Santorini.
According to police, the drug ring had been operating for the last four years. Police confiscated over 3 kilos of cannabis, 37 mobile phones and more than 30,000 euros in cash. Police were also seeking a fireman and a special guard over alleged ties to the ring.
