New toll stations to be constructed in Attica in 2017
New toll stations will be set up in Attica, Fthiotida and Halkida in March and August 2017, the concession company, Nea Odos, announced on Thursday. As part of its “action plan,” the firm also said it will launch works at road junctions in the northern suburbs of Athens and construct two service stations in Fthiotida.
However, with the state lagging behind with the necessary land appropriations and other legal permits, it remains unclear which works will be completed in March and which in August.
According to a deal signed in May by the Infrastructure Ministry, the Greek state will have to compensate contractors and construction firms if it is found to be at fault for the noncompletion of projects by the agreed deadline.
