Greek consumers’ average monthly spending at supermarkets has dropped to 270 euros this year from 303 euros in 2015, according to the survey titled "Shoppers’ Attitude & Behavior 2016" by Exceed Consulting in association with the Athens University of Economics and Business.

One in three consumers (32 percent) spends less than 200 euros per month.

An ever larger share of Greeks spend less on basic goods due to the drop in their disposable income.

This means the impact of product price hikes is even stronger than that which the Consumer Price Index records, the survey claims.
