Thessaloniki hit by fires
Firefighters in Thessaloniki were battling blazes on Friday that broke in eastern and western parts of the city as a result of strong wings and soaring heat.
One of the fires, in a small forest in Thermi, forced authorities to close a road to traffic and evacuate office buildings as a precaution.
According to reports late yesterday four fires were partially under control.
