Strikes at Piraeus and Thessaloniki ports called off at last

The strike at the port authorities of Piraeus (OLP) and Thessaloniki (OLTH) was suspended on Friday following a decision to that effect by the Federation of Hellenic Port Employees (OMYLE).

It cited a government promise to act in Parliament ‘to preserve the validity of the General Regulations for Staff.’

In an effort to appease the OLP and OLTH unionists, whose strikes have created huge problems at the country’s main ports, the government has also promised to introduce additional labor regulations, such as possibility of staff transfers.
