Greek jets escort El Al airliner after bomb warning

Two Greek F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to escort an El Al Boeing 747 en route to Tel Aviv from New York on Tuesday morning after an anonymous tip-off about an explosive device bomb on board.

The two jets were scrambled after the Israeli plane entered Greek air space.

It had also been escorted by two Swiss F-18 jets after entering Swiss air space.

The flight landed safely at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, where a check was conducted but no explosives were found.
