New highway interchange opens at Megalopoli in southern Peloponnese

The inauguration on Thursday of a 2.5 kilometer stretch along the national highway in the southern Peloponnese is expected to reduce by 10-15 minutes the trip between the town of Megalopoli to the regional capitals of Tripoli in the northeast and Kalamata on the southwestern coast.

The new interchange means motorists no longer have to take an 8-kilometer detour to join the national highway leading to Tripoli, Kalamata and Sparta.

Megalopoli Mayor Dionysis Papadopoulos hailed the project, saying that the residents of his community had waited years for a more direct connection to the national road network.
