Pensioners resort to Council of State against cuts

The new law on social security brings fresh cuts to new pensions that could reach up to 722 euros per month, generating more concern among citizens who are close to retirement.

The law introduced by Labor Minister Giorgos Katrougalos provides for adjustments to pensions that have not yet been issued of between 11.38 euros and 722.09 euros, prompting a group known as the Single Network of Pensions to oppose it at the Council of State, the country’s top constitutional court.

The pensioners argue that the law introduces cuts that violate the constitution.
