Settlement process for cartel cases

Settlement process for cartel cases

The settlement process for companies involved in cartel practices will start applying after the Competition Commission on Thursday issued its decision on how this will happen.

The commission’s decision at this point in time, combined with the postponement of the hearing of the construction sector cartel case until September 26, means that the enterprises involved have a chance to apply for a settlement.

The start of the process, which slashes fines by 15 percent, also activates a controversial clause passed in May that offers companies a type of amnesty for other financial crimes.
