Retirees to get reduced temporary pensions

A reduction between 20 and 38 percent is in store for retirees who stand to get a temporary pension two months after submitting their retirement papers as the new social security law dictates, until they get their proper pensions.

The first temporary pensions have not yet been issued but they are expected by end-September, according to the ex-deputy director of the Social Security Foundation, Yiannis Doukas.

Temporary pensions will range between 384 and 768 euros per month for full pension beneficiaries and start from 192 euros for those entitled to reduced pensions.
