Led by Russian-born Icelandic conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Athens State Orchestra will perform works by Beethoven, Mozart and Tchaikovsky at the open-air Herod Atticus Theater in Athens on Monday, August 1. Joining them on stage is the maestro’s son, clarinetist Dimitri Ashkenazy. The concert starts at 9 p.m. and is part of this year’s Greek Festival. Performances take place at 9 p.m. and admission ranges from 10 to 30 euros. Tickets for Greek Festival events can be purchased online at www.viva.gr as well as at the festival’s box offices at 39 Panepistimiou Street, inside the arcade (open Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and at the Herod Atticus Theater on Dionysiou Aeropagitou Street (open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
