Former minister attacked by fellow inmates at Korydallos prison

Former defense minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, 77, was allegedly attacked on Wednesday by fellow inmates at maximum security prison Korydallos, where he is serving a 20-year sentence for laundering millions of euros in kickbacks from state defense deals, authorities said.

Initial reports suggested that long-term convict Vassilis Stefanakos was among those who attacked the former minister.

The Ministry of Justice ordered a probe into the incident.
