Ex-minister Marietta Giannakou released from hospital
Former New Democracy minister Marietta Giannakou was released from an Athens hospital on Friday, after suffering a heart attack on May 28.
The 65-year-old conservative politician and former MEP has suffered multiple health problems, including having a leg amputated in 2008 due to diabetes.
Writing on Facebook on Friday, her ex-husband, Panagiotis Koutsikos, appeared upbeat about Giannakou’s recovery.
“We’re done with the Red Cross Hospital as of today,” he wrote. “Marietta is at home, having overcome yet another health problem, which had her stuck in a hospital for three months.”
