Rhodes nightclub bouncers threaten tax inspectors
One of the biggest nightclubs on the southeastern Aegean holiday island of Rhodes is facing the prospect of temporary closure after staff at the door on Thursday night prevented a team of tax inspectors from entering the premises.
According to reports on Friday, one of the bouncers told the inspectors that they wouldn’t be allowed into the establishment and added: “Go, now, before things get nasty.”
The inspectors (their number was not reported) left the nightclub and compiled a report on the incident that was submitted to the Finance Ministry.
According to a new regulation, businesses found repeatedly guilty of tax evasion or of failing to cooperate with authorities face a 48-hour shutdown and stiff fines.
