Bangladeshi shopkeeper found dead in his attic

Police in Athens were investigating the violent murder of a Bangladeshi national whose body was found on Thursday, with his feet and hands tied with electrical cable, in a storage space in his convenience store in the run-down central district of Aghios Panteleimonas.

The victim had been beaten about the head and body, according to police at the scene who were awaiting a coroner’s report to determine the exact cause of his death.

Police believe the motive for the killing was more likely a settling of accounts than robbery as there were no signs of forced entry and the store was tidy.
