Consumer technology market shrinks 6.8 pct in Q2

The consumer technology market shrank 6.8 percent in the second quarter of 2016, with overall turnover at 425 million euros, the Federation of Hellenic ITC Enterprises (SEPE) said on Monday, adding that four of the market’s seven sectors contracted in the same period.

In the second quarter of 2016 compared with the same period last year, the biggest drop was seen in photography equipment and supplies, which contracted by 15.3 percent, and in telecoms, which declined 5.9 percent after six robust quarters. Office equipment and supplies shrank marginally at a rate of 0.7 percent.
