Greek ferry firms launch discounts for new students

Ferry operators Minoan Lines and Hellenic Seaways on Wednesday announced a series of discounts on tickets for first-year students to and from the destinations where they will be attending universities and colleges.

The discounts will be valid through October 31.

The announcement coincided with the publication of the results of the national university entrance exams.

On the route between Piraeus and Iraklio in Crete, Minoan is offering a 50 percent fare discount for VIP and deck seats, 30 percent for bunks and 20 percent for cars and motorcycles.

Hellenic Seaways will be offering half-price tickets to all university freshmen as well as their parents, siblings or children, when traveling together.

Students need to show their exam participation form when purchasing their tickets.
