A game that’s bound to be lost

Any government trying to set up its own system of cronies and lobbies ends up caught in its own trap and paying a hefty political price for it.

Laying out crystal-clear rules and regulations that will apply to everyone involved in the broader field of the media, as well as putting an end to the nefarious practice of over-funding the sector’s businesses, is a major issue and should be a top priority for the government.

Besides, this is the kind of effort that would deserve to get support from all sides of the political spectrum.

However, the provocative way in which new influential groups of vested interests are currently being promoted and allowed to step in to succeed the old guard is an entirely different matter and a serious one at that.

This situation gives rise to several important questions but at the end of the day, modern political history has shown us that these kinds of endeavors rarely last very long and more often than not end in tragedy.
