Members of a Roma family in the Thessaloniki neighborhood of Efkarpia have been arrested for setting up a drug distribution ring.

Working on a tip-off, police raided the family home on Saturday and found 13 sacks filled with 6 kilos of heroin.

A 22-year-old, his 20-year-old wife and her 39-year-old mother were arrested. Reports said the suspect had installed surveillance cameras outside their home. All three were to appear before a Thessaloniki prosecutor.

Meanwhile, in Rethymno, Crete, police arrested three people, aged 28, 32 and 33, for the illegal possession of drugs, explosives and weapons.

The suspects were busted during a search of the area of Milopotamos by authorities who found 11 cannabis trees, 215 grams of cannabis, and 500 grams of explosive material in a sheep pen.
