Traffic at Athens Airport rises 14.6 percent in September

Traffic through Athens International Airport is continuing to improve this year, as AIA on Tuesday reported a 14.6 percent annual increase in passenger numbers last month and 10.2 percent year-on-year growth in the first nine months of 2016.

In September AIA served 2.13 million passengers, of whom 1.4 million were on international flights, up 15 percent year-on-year.

The domestic network enjoyed 14 percent growth to 725,552 passengers. Greek passengers to and from the country’s main airport increased 17 percent last month from September 2015, while foreign passengers increased 15 percent.
