Former Union of Centrists spokesman Yiannis Kallianos has joined New Democracy, it was announced Wednesday.
Kallianos told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that he had joined the conservatives after giving the matter some “serious thought.”
Kallianos, who left the small Union of Centrists in August after differences with party leader Vassilis Leventis, said that New Democracy chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis has the “only trustworthy solution for our country.”
When he quit the party, Kallianos had accused Leventis of indirectly offering support to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
This prompted Leventis to hit back, claiming that Kallianos left because he intended to join the conservatives.
